Motovun is recommended

Renowned British weekly magazine The Observer included and Motovun in Istria in this year’s list of top destinations and it especially emphasized the Motovun Film Festival.
By their words Motovun is extremely attractive as a destination primarily because of its location, and if you do not know the town is situated at the top of the hill and you have to take the famous stairs to reach it. As for the festival, it should be noted that the projections are held outdoors and special atmosphere of this small town makes them very attractive.
This is another praise of Motovun, which was praised by the famous The Guardian newspapers in 2007.

Variety of Kvarner offer

July 2nd, 2009

From the beginning of the season in the Kvarner region you will find a number of events.
Rijeka summer nights have already started and by 23rd of July they will offer all guests a range of cultural events such as performances by musicians Arturo Sandovalo, Alexander Balanescua and Monika Leskovar, a number of different plays, 45 programs on the Trsat fort until they officially close with the spectacle “Ball on the Water” to be held on the pool of Kantrida.
Another Kastav cultural summer, which will last till the 28th of August, includes many musical performances of Croatian celebrities, festivals, performances and the International Guitar Festival.
Also cheerful and interesting will be on the islands. Rab Fair, one of the most famous medieval events, is held from July 25th till 27th. Krk island will have its event, also a medieval Krk Fair, in August, from 8th till 10th. Mali Losinj will offer a fun atmosphere with Losinj Jazz Festival at the very beginning of August, which has many famous names, and Veli Losinj will attract all film fans to the APOX Film Festival.
People of Novi Vinodolski by tradition have a rich summer program for their guests, but certainly the one event that stands out is Rose of Vinodol, with a rich entertainment and cultural program.
In any case, the summer before us will certainly not be boring!

Day of the city Hum

For Hum in Istria, a medieval town that is known as the smallest city not only in Croatia but also in the world, the legend says that it is created entirely by chance. Namely, the giants who built the surrounding towns in the valley of the Mirna River, decided to use large stones that were left over and used them to build a miniature city for fun. Time and turbulent history have not much changed this small Istrian town, and its narrow stone streets look as they are still talking by the old language of a knights story. Every year on the Day of his city, all men of the parish elect the village head by the old custom of scoring votes in a wooden stick called “tally.” Rural chief is obliged to take care of his parish, solve disputes among residents and impose penalties for disobedience to those who violate rules in Hum and the surrounding villages. As the crown of any election follows the popular village party, where the guests can enjoy excellent food, taste famous homemade wine and brandy in the surroundings of an untouched and timeless environment. Hum is also the center of Croatian Glagolitic script where you can see the first monuments and traces of early Croatian literacy and learn the old Croatian alphabet called “glagoljica”.

Skydiving photo contest

Every day from Thursday to Sunday at the airport in Mali Losinj, we are running a rich and interesting Parachuting program that includes photographs and acrobatics and the presentation of daily photo and video works. Along with the standard program, on Saturday all the visitors may see a declaration of the winner, and enjoy a party at the airport. After the completion of the competitive part of the program, on Sunday, a freestyle Parachuting program is held, along with the photo exhibition in the Palace “Kvarner”.
Parachuting jumps will be performed from the aircraft Turbolet L-410 from a height of 4000 meters. People who want to jump a tandem jump can do so with a reservation in advance for the cost of 160 € for the jump + 80 € for the recording. Maximum number of persons in the aircraft is 18, including parachutes and passengers. Price of a parachuting ticket for jumps will be 20 €, while a tandem double ticket will be 50 €.
All who had the desire to tempt the adrenalin packed parachute jump, now have the opportunity at Losinj island!

Airshow on Grobnik

Air club Wings of Kvarner prepared the extraordinary spectacle of Aeromiting. This year, all visitors will for the first time in Croatia be able to attend a parachute performance with the special suit “Wingsuit” which allows extremely long stay in free fall, which makes the whole performance seems attractive. Acrobations with sailing boats will demonstrate the technical capabilities of aircraft, but the most spectacular are certainly acrobatic flights that will be performed by many experienced flyers, as well as demonstrations of various types of aircraft. Aeromiting program this year will be marked by the acrobatic flight over the Pier of Caroline of Rijeka, and visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic flights on 13th and 14th of June prior to the beginning and after the completion of the program.

Basketball spectacle in Opatija

This weekend in Opatija at Slatina is reserved for basketball fans. 10th international basketball tournament Marino Cvetkovic will be held from June 5th to June 7th.
Marino Cvetkovic was a talented player of basketball club “Opatija”, but he never managed to shine because he was killed in 1991 defending his country from invasion. Besides the hosts from Opatija, the tournament will host renowned European teams like “Maccabi” from Israel, Italian “Armani Jeans”, Spanish “Unicaja” and Croatian teams “Uskok”, “Torpedo” and “Ri-basket”. It is important to emphasize that this tournament is one of the strongest European basketball competitions for junior teams.
To further understand its significance it is enough to name some of the sponsors like the Croatian president Stjepan Mesic, Ministry of veterans and family, Ministry of science and education and, of course, the town of Opatija.
Apart from this sporting event, all visitors can also enjoy in great music at the Hemingway night bar, which is celebrating its 9th year anniversary. To mark this occasion Hemingway brings you renowned artists like Inusu Dawudu, Joe2Shine and Natalie Peris.
Tourist season in Opatija has begun!
