Museum ticket as a welcome gift

Friday, May 15th, 2009

The town of Mali Lošinj on the island of Lošinj came up with an original idea to promote culture and tourism – a free museum ticket as a welcome gift to all the visitors. The ticket includes free entrance to three locations on the island – Palace Fritzy, Piperata– Mihicic and Kula in the nearby town of Veli Lošinj.
Jelena Dlaka, head of the Lošinj museum, states that the goal of this project is to make a visit to the museums of Lošinj an integral part of the island’s tourist offer, which should turn the island of Losinj, one of the oldest tourist destinations of Croatia with a long tradition, into a well known cultural destination on the Adriatic, a title which it deserves for sure.
She also states that this promotional program could finally provide guests of the island something more than just beaches, restaurants, Sun and the clean sea, which are all already a part of the “regular” summer offer of Lošinj.

“Kaisernacht” in Opatija

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Have you ever wondered what was it like to be a king over a hundred years ago? Sure you have! Maybe you wouldn’t trade your life for it, but it would be interesting to get an idea. That is why you should visit “Kaisernacht”, a cultural manifestation in Opatija, which takes place on Monday, May 18th 2009.
This program was conceived to simulate what life in Opatija was over a hundred years ago, back in the 19th century when the town was a central tourist resort not only for the Hapsburg monarchy, but also for the nobility of Europe and the United Kingdom. This event will combine singing, acting and dancing to give an accurate description of life in the Victorian age.
Amir Muzur, mayor of Opatija, hopes that this event will become a recognizable part of the town’s tourist offer, a manifestation which could become an integral part of Opatija’s already rich culture.

120 years of health tourism in Opatija

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Opatija, one of Croatia’s best known tourist brands, celebrated 120 years of health tourism.
It all begun in 1889 when Emperor Francis Joseph, the last ruler of the Hapsburg dynasty which ruled over Croatia at the time, proclaimed Opatija as the health resort of his Empire, a place where European royalty nobility could come and enjoy in many beautiful villas. Further development started and soon there were numerous sanatoriums in the town. It was the mild climate that is unique for this region of the Mediterranean which led to Opatija being regarded as one of the best places in Europe for relaxation and recovery. It also makes the town a popular destination throughout the year, not only in Summer months like other parts of the Croatian coast.
We hope that this is a good reason for you to visit Opatija too. If it was good enough for European emperors, kings, queens, artists and other respected individuals 120 years ago, than there is no good reason for you to not visit this “pearl of the Adriatic”, as some have named it.
We hope you will enjoy!

Monday, April 20th, 2009

April 29th 2009 – May 2nd 2009
Porec
10.00 – 19.00
Žatika hall

The widespread reputation of the leading exhibition of wine and other products as olive oil, honey, cheese and prosciutto, confirms the gastronomic importance of these products in Istria. Vinistra is not just a local products exhibition, but an event with wine tastings, presentations and meetings as well.

Apart from Istrian winemakers, there are also Slovenian, Italian and Hungarian colleagues who take part in the competitions. The judge panel consists both of professionals as well as people who simply like and enjoy a glass of good wine and who find it very precious for their work. The main purpose of the exhibition is the wine quality testing while other different off-programs make Vinistra even more interesting for many guests and participants.

This event unites a record number of wine exhibitors in one place for a few days and makes education and further development of their knowledge possible. Vinistra became the major exhibition of this kind in Croatia and the number of the exhibitors coming from Croatia and abroad confirms its growing significance.

It should be an interesting couple of days in Porec, Istria.
