The lamb from island of Cres, one of the three biggest islands of the Kvarner archipelago, has a reputation for being one of the best in Croatia, and there are lots of different kinds of lamb in Croatia. These compliments about its glorious taste are due to the fact that the lamb on Cres feeds on many specific plants characteristic to the island.

We invite you to join us and spend a pleasant evening with different specialties of Cres island, including not only lamb, but also different kinds of cheese, wine and other delicious food.

The World of Malvasia is the first international competition of Malvasia wines which will take place in the Istrian town of Porec organized by the Region of Istria and Vinistra – association of wine-growers and winemakers of Istria
This new „eno event” is a result of the world’s trends of production and consumption of wines which are produced from indigenous wine varieties which have firm connection with the territory on which they’re grown and are produced in limited quantities.

The goal of this competition is to:
- assemble the largest number of Malvasia wines possible

Traditional Croatian souvenirs

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Hotel Kvarner in Opatija
April 8th to April 10th 2009

“KVARNER EXPO 07″ is the name of the exhibition of Croatian souvenirs makers in Opatija.
This interesting exhibition will take place in the famous Crystal Hall of Hotel Kvarner.
We can now with almost absolute certainty say that this exhibition has became the tradition of Opatija.
Due to the large interest of exhibitors and visitors of the exhibition, this year the exhibition space will be expanded on the terrace of the Hotel Kvarner, which will be covered by a tent to protect the visitors from bad weather, although we hope it will not come to that.
Croatia has a long tradition which produced a lot of unique souvenirs over centuries. It is our hope that most of these will be on display at this year’s Kvarner Expo.

Most beautiful islands in the world

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Spanish magazine Condé Nast Traveler recently held a reward ceremony for different tourist categories, amongst them the category for the most beautiful island of the world.
Competition was strong and included destinations like Puerto Rico, Mauritius, Corsica and Greek islands. We are proud to announce that the winner, or rather winners, were “islands of the Croatian Adriatic”!
This is only a small reminder of the many treasures that still exists in Croatia within its untouched nature and landscapes. It is not called “Mediterranean as it once was” for nothing, there is a very good reason!
Visit the Croatian islands, at least one of more than a thousand!

Istrakon science fiction festival

Monday, March 16th, 2009

March 20th 2009 to March 22nd 2009
Memorial centre in Pazin, Istria

Welcome to the fascinating world of dreams and science fiction!

For a few spring days by the end of the month of March, Pazin, city in the heart of green Istria, becomes the venue for a very unusual event – a science fiction convention. After being held for the first time back in 2000 it soon grew into a real festival of borderline sciences, science fiction, SF literature and films, accompanied by a rich program of lectures, computer workshops, card playing tournaments, creative writing workshops, sports competitions, fashion shows and theme parties.
If you happen to be in Istria during this period, don’t hesitate to take a short drive into the heart of Istria and have fun at the convention.
