Days of honey in Pazin

Choice of honey is the same as with your favorite coffee brand. You choose once and never change.
Locust tree honey, meadow honey, chestnut honey… Honey is healthy! This is a statement no one will even dare to deny. It was healthy even when man reached for it into the beehive for the first time (how did he even get this idea?), and it will be one of the healthiest.
Istrian honey is of outstanding quality, but there isn’t much of it. In order to harvest as much honey as possible, beekeepers carry their hives to places even a few hundred kilometers away. It all begins in April when beekeepers harvest fruit honey and dandelion honey. In May they move in search of locust trees and at the same time bees are collecting sage nectar. In June the hives are transferred to areas rich in chestnut trees, but after that the search for nectar takes beekeepers to other areas outside Istria. In September the bees and their masters return home.
For those who would like to know more about honey making, it is time to visit Pazin and Istria in Croatia during February 27th and 28th of 2009 to enjoy this unique gastronomic event.
