Rijeka summer nights is a music festival set in Rijeka, the second biggest Croatian city. Fifth Rijeka summer nights were opened on June 27th with a grand opening ceremony. This cultural manifestation is a great addition to the tourist offer of the entire region, and this year the program will be very interesting and diverse. Vojko Obersnel, the mayor of Rijeka, and other respected members of the city elite attended this year’s grand opening and they all announced their expectations and hopes that the fifth Rijeka summer nights would be the best so far. During the festival the entire city, its streets and squares, are turned into a sort of a stage, and a part of the program is held in abandoned factory halls to show how industrial heritage and culture can successfully coexist. “Requiem” by Giuseppe Verdi and the spectacular cult Slovenian rock group Laibach are only a couple of quality performances to be held during this year’s Rijeka summer nights festival. The festival will be closed on July 25th with a grand closing ceremony.
