Carnival party of 2009 is held in Rijeka on February 20th and 21st.
This year the line-up is very impressive and includes Vitalic, one of the best French DJs known for his album OK Cowboy, Riton, resident DJ of the cult club Warehouse in Manchester, Les Petits Pilous, modern French rave artists, and Croatian DJ Mark Ash and the Romian band Skandal. After parties are held in clubs Stereo and Discordia.
The main event is held on Saturday, night before the carnival, but there are also many bands and artists on many locations throughout the city on Friday too.

The Rijeka Carnival is a traditional event in Rijeka, which gathers masked groups from all parts of Croatia and the rest of the world. It is also the third biggest carnival in the world, right after Rio de Janeiro and Venice.

14th of February 10:00 AM in the Lovran port – Fishing masked competition called “Zubijada”, a unique manifestation
14. of February at 2:00 PM – Masked Carnival Triathlon for all those who love sports and good fun
15th of February – The main Carnival Parade from the Excelsior Hotel to Lovran port starts at 02:00 PM
22nd of February – Egg hunting Day, old custom of hunting eggs accompanied by accordion playing, a traditional event in Lovran
25. 02. – Ash Wednesday is the last Carnival day in Lovran

If you haven’t yet visited the Rijeka carnival or many festivals and parties that come before it, than you don’t really know what fun really is. Sure, you went to Rio and now you are wondering what can be more fun than that? Come to Rijeka and Kvarner and see for yourself!
Summer carnival in Segna
Monday, August 11th, 2008Except from the bura, many cultural and historical sights, beautiful nature and a long history, Segna is also well known for its summer carnival, the oldest and biggest event of that kind in Croatia. The carnival events take place during four days in August and they end with a big parade with a couple of thousands of masked people from all over the country and abroad. The biggest contribution still comes from Segna, whose people prepare for the carnival for months in advance. After the carnival parade ends the party goes on deep into the night. You can see more in the video under the text (it is in Croatian, but it will give you a clear picture of what goes on during the Summer carnival in Segna).
Novi Vinodolski International Summer Carnival
Sunday, July 6th, 2008Novi Vinodolski International Summer Carnival is held every year in the Croatian town of Novi Vinodolski. The tradition of carnivals in the Croatian Kvarner region dates back a few centuries and there are many well known organized groups which attend carnivals throughout the entire year. The carnival in Novi Vinodolski attracts many Croatian and foreign guests and is an important part of the Novi tourist offer. The carnival parade sets off from the town bus station and it ends at the main square where it is applauded by a mass of spectators. After the parade is over there are many parties held in the town’s clubs and bars, and a good time is guaranteed till small hours.
