Air club Wings of Kvarner prepared the extraordinary spectacle of Aeromiting. This year, all visitors will for the first time in Croatia be able to attend a parachute performance with the special suit “Wingsuit” which allows extremely long stay in free fall, which makes the whole performance seems attractive. Acrobations with sailing boats will demonstrate the technical capabilities of aircraft, but the most spectacular are certainly acrobatic flights that will be performed by many experienced flyers, as well as demonstrations of various types of aircraft. Aeromiting program this year will be marked by the acrobatic flight over the Pier of Caroline of Rijeka, and visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic flights on 13th and 14th of June prior to the beginning and after the completion of the program.
The open stage in Icici is set for the Liburnia Film Festival this year from August 28th to August 31st. It is a festival of the Croatian documentary movies and this year there will be 15 of them shown in three days, 15 best films chosen among the 50 applied documentaries. These movies will be in competition for the reward of the jury, a couple of special awards and the audience award. Every day after the projections there is a musical part of the program dedicated to the further amusement of the crowd. A very special workshop organized by the Filmaktiv from Rijeka and the Restart media center from Zagred will also be held while the duration of the festival. It will teach everyone who is interested about the basics of making a documentary. Projections start every day at 8:30 PM and the enterance is free for all.
The first Uskok days are held this year in Segna to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the Nehay fort. The uskoks were a famous guerilla force which inhabited the areas around Segna and its Nehaj fort, and they gained their reputation during the wars with Venice abd the Ottoman Empire. The fort of Nehaj was built by a famous uskok Ivan Lenkovic in 1558 and it served as the main uskok outpost for decades. Today, it serves as a museum in the city of Senj, and during the festival there are many cultural events held in the fort. The name Nehaj comes from “Ne hajati” which could be translated as “Not to worry”. The uskoks gave it that name to simbolize how there is no need for the inhabitants of Segna to worry about being conquered as long as the y are defending the town.
