Air club Wings of Kvarner prepared the extraordinary spectacle of Aeromiting. This year, all visitors will for the first time in Croatia be able to attend a parachute performance with the special suit “Wingsuit” which allows extremely long stay in free fall, which makes the whole performance seems attractive. Acrobations with sailing boats will demonstrate the technical capabilities of aircraft, but the most spectacular are certainly acrobatic flights that will be performed by many experienced flyers, as well as demonstrations of various types of aircraft. Aeromiting program this year will be marked by the acrobatic flight over the Pier of Caroline of Rijeka, and visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic flights on 13th and 14th of June prior to the beginning and after the completion of the program.

Carnival party of 2009 is held in Rijeka on February 20th and 21st.
This year the line-up is very impressive and includes Vitalic, one of the best French DJs known for his album OK Cowboy, Riton, resident DJ of the cult club Warehouse in Manchester, Les Petits Pilous, modern French rave artists, and Croatian DJ Mark Ash and the Romian band Skandal. After parties are held in clubs Stereo and Discordia.
The main event is held on Saturday, night before the carnival, but there are also many bands and artists on many locations throughout the city on Friday too.

Symphonic concert of Rijeka’s Philharmonic Orchestra “An Evening of Russian romantics”, conducted by the renowned maestro Anton Nanut, will be held on Tuesday, 13th January at 08:00 PM in Rijeka. Concert brings you compositions by two exceptional Russian composers of romantic music. Concerto for Piano and orchestra by Sergei V. Rachmaninoff and Sixth symphony Pathetique by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Young Croatian pianist Martina Filjak, one of the most promising musical talents in the world, will be the soloist of the concert.
Rijeka – European swimming championship 2008

12th European short course swimming championship will be held in Rijeka from December 11th to December 14th 2008. Official mascot of the event is named “Valko”, or “Wavey”, and it simbolizes the waves and dynamics of the sea. More than 600 top European athletes, from some 50 European countries, accompanied with quite a big number of distinguished people related to this popular and healthy sport, along with more than 400 journalists, are expected to attend this event in Rijeka. The championship is held at the new pool complex, which is located in the Kantrida city district, just a couple of meters from the sea. Visit Rijeka and enjoy watching Europe’s best swimmers!
