There is a story in the area of Vinodol and the town of Novi Vinodolski, a story told in many tales about a centuries old custom, a custom that started in the days when the famous Frankopans ruled the town. According to that story, after every season of picking grapes the people of the town would choose the prettiest and the most hard working grape picker among all the girls. After that the girl was taken to the town followed by a big parade. The modern festival Rose of Vinodol started in 2004 and it lasts for three days. During that period there are many competitions, cultural events and, of course, the competition for the Rose of Vinodol. There is no need to say that many barrels of wine are consumed during the festival. This year was maybe the best so far! Check out the video!
