Weekend in Istria

Weekend in IstriaSmall village of Tinjan is located only 10 km from Pazin and it is the location of a gastronomic manifestation dedicated to Istrian prosciutto. It is called ISAP 2008 and held from the 25th to 26th of October. In the tradition of the Istrian gastronomy the prosciutto, or “prÅ¡ut” in Croatian, is the measure for all the exquisiteness. It is cut into “fete” by long, delicate and careful incisions, so an old joke says that cutting it is like playing a violin. Fete or cuts of ham are first smaller in the start, to become ever bigger towards the end, the color of the prosciutto turns ever redder and its smell is more and more intense…

If you get bored from prosciutto you can always visit Rovinj. At 11 AM on the 25th of October, the city center of Rovinj hosts the Days of Bread, Olive Oil, Wine and Games, an amusing manifestation with a rich Istrian gastronomic offer. Many producers of olive oil, wine and bakery products from all over Istria also participate in the manifestation and offer their products. Beside games, there is also a rich entertaining program with the characteristics of the Istrian region.

Enjoy!
